Ecovia’s super-absorbent, water-swellable biopolymers are an excellent alternative to both polyacrylates/polyacrylamides and starch-based polymers for hygiene applications such as diapers, nappies, adult incontinence and feminine hygiene products.
They absorb up to 300x their weight in water and show improved absorption under load (AUL) over starch-based biopolymers. Unlike polyacrylates, they are 100% biobased and biodegradable, making them more eco-friendly.
Recycling of diapers and other hygiene products is challenging. Disposable diapers are estimated to make up to 7 percent of nondurable household waste in landfills. Ecovia’s technology greatly expands the recycling possibilities of SAP fillers used in hygiene products. Our superabsorbent biopolymers are also designed to minimize the cost of production to make them competitive to conventional SAPs.
Ecovia SAP products are sold as dry granules and are shelf stable.
